|臭豆腐拉|チョウドウフラ|CHODOFURAH
Stinky tofu has long been the ultimate challenge for foreign visitors in Taiwan.
The smell alone is enough to make many people retreat instantly—
I personally love it, but if I weren’t Taiwanese, I’d probably run too.
Because this is the most infamously pungent Taiwanese snack,
I had to make CHODOFURAH look absolutely fierce—
the kind of creature no one wants to mess with at first sight.
I designed it as a twin-headed demonic dragon,
its body shaped with the tofu’s iconic square geometry,
covered with porous pits that resemble bone cavities.
The eyeless sockets give it a creepy, skeletal presence—
strange, unsettling, and terrifying.
And emerging from deep within the monster is the soul of stinky tofu itself—
pickled cabbage.
It bursts out of the tofu and transforms into its wings, legs, and tail.
This is CHODOFURAH,
the most ferocious, foul-scented beast of Taiwan’s night-market kingdom.
